Finnish architect Alvar Aalto also knew that lamps not only bring light but are also sensual furniture for the home. His 'A811' is the best example of this.
The combination of bright metal, glossy details, elegant leather and soft yet deliberately set lines make an object that nonchalantly masters the high art of indirect lighting. The centre is the simple shade made of delicate metal strips, which prevents glare through uniform light scattering.
Although the 'A811' reminds in form and function of the other lamps of Aalto, it was only released in 1965 and was the last addition to his floor lamp series.
