A special feature of the wall shelf 112 by designer Alvar Aalto are the loops that hold the shelf. These are bent from birch plywood, an element that can be found in many designs by the Finn.
To bend the loops so that they appear seamless, it requires the strength of two people. Once this hurdle has been overcome, the shelf can be mounted on any wall in your home. In the kitchen for the many types of tea, in the bathroom for scented candles and cosmetics or in the bedroom for books and the small houseplant.
The curved loops can be placed both below and above the shelf. In the latter case, the loops become practical bookends.
